Usted Está Aquí

Ud. Está Aquí is a speculative fiction series that follows two aliens, employees of an intergalactic conglomerate, sent to document human art and culture before Earth is destroyed. It works as a video factory and an art showcase, built from segments that cut into each other like channel zapping. We made it on a pretty small budget, so a good part of the challenge was giving it a strong, cohesive identity within those limits.

I led three areas. As art director I built the visual universe of the fiction: characters, spaces and objects, from the Culturometer to the alien costumes and the roomies' apartment. I designed the motion graphics and VFX, the alien interfaces and the Machine's scanning effects, and took on all the visual effects, learning After Effects for our first short. I also built the show's identity and a custom typeface, holding a tone between documentary, kitsch and sci-fi.
